Our Ingredients

We take pride in using quality produce and showcasing some of the best local and Scottish food producers. Scotland’s food and drink comes from unspoilt habitats and varied weather, which are perfect for producing a wide variety of high quality fresh fruit and vegetables, fish, meat and much more.

Bread & Flour

We are proud of our house loafs which we serve with our breakfast dishes and our soups, these are made using speciality flour from Carr’s Mill in Kirkcaldy, after 180 years in business they set the standard in flour. The rest of our breads and custom rolls come fresh from the family run Forfar bakery Panzerotti, they produce fantastic quality breads including our signature roll which they developed exclusively for us, you can’t get it anywhere else.

Fruit & Veg

A lot of our vegetables are grown by our very own Granddad Bill in his allotment, we can’t get a more reliable, organic source than that. Unfortunately Granddad Bill’s allotment isn’t big enough to provide everything we need all year round so for the rest of our fruit and veg we use Mark Murphy of Edinburgh who pride themselves in supplying the finest Scottish seasonally grown produce and are committed to supporting local farmers and producers.

Dairy & Eggs

Our milk, cream and butter is from the local Kerr’s Dairy — established in 1930 this is another great local institution that is still family run and committed to quality. Our eggs are supplied by Bairds Eggs from their family run and organic Scotson Farm in Auchterhouse.


With Mackays on our doorstep in Arbroath we of course use their jams and marmalade, established by the Mackay brothers in 1938, Mackays is run today by the Grant family with the same integrity and pride in their quality products.


Our fish is supplied by Alex Spink & Sons, fished from Scottish coastal waters. Established in 1977 this family run business is a local institution hailing from Arbroath but with shops also in Dundee and Blairgowrie supplying quality produce all over the country.


All our beef, pork, venison, lamb, poultry and sausages are supplied by Scott Brothers, Dundee’s local family run butcher who have been around since 1935. They source from local producers with a consistent focus on quality as their first priority.


Taste Our Best

Using these fantastic ingredients from our Scottish larder, everything we serve is made fresh and from scratch here at our little café.

We take such pleasure and great pride in producing quality dishes with integrity, often gluten free, dairy free and vegan friendly with no added anything, except our TLC.
